A New Electric Karting Venue for Chennai

The Grid Karting Club has opened in Chennai with a 10-kart Formula-Zero MK2 fleet at the centre of the experience.

The new venue combines a 410-metre circuit, two track configurations and professional live lap timing. It is built as a complete entertainment destination, with karting supported by a games lounge, café and group-event facilities.

For Formula-Zero, this deployment is a strong fit between kart, circuit and operating model. The MK2 is designed for commercial tracks under 450 metres where fleet uptime, predictable handling and quick turnarounds matter more than headline top speed.

Built Around Fleet Uptime

A busy karting venue does not earn from karts sitting in a charging bay. It earns from consistent sessions and a full starting grid.

Each MK2 runs for up to 70 minutes on its 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. When a pack needs to be changed, the QuickSwap system lets the track team complete the swap in under 60 seconds. The kart can return to service before the next group finishes its briefing.

That operating model gives The Grid flexibility during weekend peaks, corporate bookings and group events. Battery packs can rotate through charging while the active fleet stays on track, reducing the need to build long charging gaps into the session schedule.

Matched to a 410-Metre Circuit

The Grid can run two configurations within the same 410-metre circuit. One is a fast nine-turn clockwise layout. The other is a more technical 14-turn counter-clockwise layout with tighter direction changes.

The MK2's 50:50 weight distribution and three-metre turning radius suit both formats. The kart remains predictable through slower corners while delivering immediate electric torque out of them. Remote speed control also allows the venue team to configure sessions for different driver groups without changing the fleet.

Every session is measured through The Grid's live timing system. Drivers can compare lap times, track personal bests and return with a clear target to beat. The result is a venue that can serve first-time drivers while still giving regular racers a reason to come back.

A Commercial Electric Fleet, Supported from Chennai

The deployment is not only about supplying karts. Formula-Zero supports the fleet with diagnostics, spares and on-site service from Chennai. The MK2's powertrain, battery system and controls are designed for commercial operation, while the KnK Karts chassis provides a durable 32 mm steel-alloy platform.

For the operator, this means one accountable support chain for the complete electric fleet. For drivers, it means consistent performance from one session to the next.

The Grid adds another serious electric karting destination to Chennai's growing motorsport and entertainment market. More importantly, it shows what a new track can look like when the fleet, timing system and venue experience are planned as one operation from day one.

The Grid Karting Club is now open in Chennai. Visit The Grid's website for session bookings and operating hours.
